Expands the definition of "public information" to include data dictionaries and database field descriptors, excluding metadata that directly implicates database security

Requires governmental bodies to provide electronic public information in searchable or sortable formats when requested, using their existing computer software, or as a paper printout if the requestor prefers

Prohibits governmental bodies from refusing to provide electronic public information simply because fulfilling the request requires inputting search, filter, or report parameters into their computer systems

Mandates that governmental bodies use reasonable efforts to ensure contracts for electronic public information systems do not impair the public's ability to inspect or copy records

Repeals Section 552.231 of the Government Code and applies these changes to public information requests received on or after September 1, 2025
