Expands the option for defendants to appear by telephone or videoconference in justice and municipal courts to any hearing, removing the previous limitation that restricted this option to only specific hearing types under Articles 45A.258 or 45A.259

Allows remote appearance when a justice or judge determines that requiring in-person attendance would impose an undue hardship on the defendant

Applies to all proceedings that commence before, on, or after the effective date, including pending cases

Takes effect September 1, 2025
