Requires all Texas high school students to complete at least one-half credit in personal financial literacy & economics as part of the foundation graduation program's social studies requirements

Adds economics as a standalone one-credit course option alongside world geography and world history to fulfill social studies requirements

Removes the previous option allowing students to choose between economics or personal financial literacy, making personal financial literacy mandatory

Applies to students entering ninth grade during the 2025-2026 school year or later; students already in grades 10-12 follow previous requirements

Takes effect immediately with two-thirds legislative vote, otherwise September 1, 2025
