Amends Section 574.001(b) of the Health and Safety Code to specify that applications for court-ordered mental health services may be filed in the county where the proposed patient "is located at the time the application is filed" rather than where the patient "is found"

Adds a new option allowing applications to be filed in the county where the proposed patient was apprehended under Chapter 573 (emergency detention provisions)

Maintains existing options to file in the county where the proposed patient resides or is receiving court-ordered mental health services

Applies only to applications for court-ordered mental health services submitted on or after September 1, 2025

Takes effect September 1, 2025
