Defines "social worker" by reference to Section 505.002, Occupations Code, which covers individuals licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners

Current eligible professions include fire fighters, corrections officers, county jailers, public security officers, peace officers, emergency medical services personnel, professional educators, and veterans

Applicants must reside in Texas and have income not exceeding 115% of area median family income (adjusted for family size) or the maximum permitted by federal tax code

Takes effect immediately if passed by two-thirds vote of both chambers; otherwise takes effect September 1, 2025
