Cited as the "Landon Payton Act," requiring school nurses, athletic coaches, physical education instructors, marching band directors, cheerleading coaches, and student athletic trainers to obtain and maintain CPR and AED certification from the American Heart Association, American Red Cross, or similar organization

Extends CPR and AED training requirements to open-enrollment charter schools and private schools that receive AED equipment or funding from the state education agency

Mandates all school districts and applicable private schools develop and implement cardiac emergency response plans that include establishing a cardiac emergency response team, activation procedures, campus-wide plan dissemination, and annual practice drills

Requires plans to incorporate evidence-based practices from nationally recognized cardiovascular care organizations and integrate with local emergency services providers' protocols

Takes effect for the 2025-2026 school year, with full cardiac emergency response plan implementation required by the first instructional day of the 2027-2028 school year
