At least 10 percent of annual appropriations from the volunteer fire department assistance fund must be allocated to volunteer fire departments located in areas classified as high risk for large wildfires by the Texas A&M Forest Service

If departments in high wildfire risk areas request less than the 10 percent allocation in a fiscal year, the remaining funds may be redirected to other assistance requests

Amends Section 614.102 of the Government Code by adding Subsection (i) to establish this allocation requirement

Applies only to appropriations made from the volunteer fire department assistance fund on or after the effective date

Takes effect September 1, 2025; passed Senate 30-0 on April 9, 2025, and House 134-3 on May 23, 2025
