Creates a Class A misdemeanor for creating and distributing deep fake videos or deep fake audio recordings with intent to deceive and injure a candidate or influence an election

Establishes a new Class B misdemeanor for creating and distributing altered images with intent to deceive and influence election results

Removes the previous 30-day pre-election time restriction, making the offenses applicable regardless of proximity to an election date

Provides an affirmative defense for altered images if the person includes a clear label stating the image is altered

Exempts satirical content (cartoons, caricatures) and superficial edits (brightness, contrast, color adjustments) from the definitions of deep fake videos, deep fake audio, and altered images

Allows persons depicted in violating content to seek injunctive relief to prevent further violations

Takes effect September 1, 2025
