Municipal utility districts with less than 50% developed land may hold board meetings at publicly accessible locations either inside the district or within 10 miles outside the district

Districts with at least 50% developed land must hold board meetings at publicly accessible locations inside the district

Districts with at least 50% developed land may hold meetings up to 10 miles outside the district if five qualified electors petition the board to designate an outside location

The requirements do not prohibit boards from holding open or closed meetings by telephone or video conference call under existing Government Code provisions

Takes effect immediately with two-thirds vote of both legislative chambers, otherwise September 1, 2025
