Texas Senate Resolution 612 honors the memory of Barbara Leonard Hayes of Sherman, who passed away on April 6, 2025, at age 87

Hayes was born in Tom, Oklahoma on July 8, 1937, earned a bachelor's degree in education from the University of Oklahoma, worked as an American Airlines flight attendant, taught elementary school in Sherman, worked as a realtor, and owned a 700-acre farm in Missouri

She married Stanley Joe Hayes on June 11, 1960, and had three children: John, Susan, and Joel; she served as a Cub Scout leader, PTA president at Wakefield Elementary, and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church

Hayes was active in civic organizations including P.E.O., Sherman Community Players, and held life memberships at Tanglewood Country Club and Woodlawn Country Club

The resolution extends condolences to her surviving family members and directs the Texas Senate to adjourn in her memory; adopted by rising vote on May 31, 2025
