Commemorates the 40th anniversary of the Intercultural Development Research Association (IDRA) Valued Youth Partnership, a dropout prevention program established in San Antonio in 1984

The program recruits at-risk secondary students to serve as tutors for struggling elementary students, helping tutors recognize their own value and the importance of education

Since inception, the program has kept 35,500 students (98% of tutors) in school and positively impacted 750,000 children, families, and educators

The program operates internationally in multiple U.S. states, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and England, and was named a Bright Spot in Hispanic Education by the White House in 2015

The Texas Senate formally recognizes the program's success in reducing dropout rates and providing leadership experience for students
