Memorial resolution honoring Gerald Mack Bennett of Jefferson, Texas, who passed away on April 28, 2025, at age 74

Bennett had a career as an educator and football coach, leading Jefferson High School to an undefeated season and 3A state championship in 1986, earning multiple Coach of the Year honors

Coached at various schools including Marshall High School, Queen City High, Jefferson High, and Southern Methodist University, where he coached running backs and inside receivers alongside his brother Phil Bennett

Inducted into the East Texas Coaches Association Hall of Honor in 2015 and served his community through First Baptist Church Jefferson as a Sunday school teacher and committee chair

Resolution adopted by the Texas Senate on June 1, 2025, by rising vote, extending sympathy to his wife of 42 years Tammy, daughter Ashley, and other family members
