Secretary of Veterans Affairs must establish the "Food is Medicine" pilot program within 180 days of enactment to provide medically-tailored meals and groceries to eligible veterans

Eligible veterans include those enrolled in VA healthcare with multiple chronic conditions (diabetes, cancer, heart failure) or those receiving maternal health care at risk for preeclampsia or gestational diabetes

Program includes nutrition education and cooking classes through registered dieticians, nutritionists, and community health workers, plus training for VA healthcare providers on integrating the program into treatment plans

VA must collaborate with community organizations like food banks and local agriculture programs to procure fresh, locally-sourced produce and expand meal availability across geographically diverse pilot locations

Program authorized for fiscal years 2025-2028 with annual reporting to Congress on participant numbers, health outcomes, cost savings, and effectiveness; authority terminates three years after enactment
