Auxiliary units of these organizations have more than 1,000,000 members and have collectively volunteered millions of hours and raised billions of dollars

These groups provide financial assistance for rent, child care, utilities, and food; host "stand-downs" for homeless veterans; conduct food drives; visit hospitals; and provide youth scholarships

Organizations provide military funeral honor ceremonies for fallen veterans and volunteer at Department of Veterans Affairs facilities nationwide

The resolution encourages Americans to promote awareness of these contributions and calls on citizens to follow their example by volunteering support to those who have served
