H. Res. 581, titled the "Epstein Files Transparency Act," requires the Attorney General to publicly release within 30 days all unclassified DOJ and FBI records related to Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, flight logs, individuals connected to Epstein's criminal activities, and internal communications about charging decisions

Records cannot be withheld based on embarrassment, reputational harm, or political sensitivity to government officials, public figures, or foreign dignitaries

Permitted redactions include victim personally identifiable information, child sexual abuse materials (CSAM), information that would jeopardize active investigations, images of death or abuse, and properly classified national security information

All redactions must be accompanied by written justification published in the Federal Register and submitted to Congress, and any post-July 1, 2025 classification decisions must also be published with justification

Within 15 days of completing the document release, the Attorney General must report to the House and Senate Judiciary Committees listing all categories of released and withheld records, redaction summaries, and an unredacted list of all government officials and politically exposed persons named in the materials
