The 25th Army Corps was the largest African American unit in the Union Army during the Civil War, comprising more than 1,000 soldiers, many of whom were previously enslaved

The Corps was the first unit to occupy Richmond, Virginia, the former Confederate capital, on April 3, 1864

Corps members pursued Confederate Texas government and soldiers into Mexico while spreading news of freedom and releasing Union soldiers and enslaved persons held captive by Confederate forces

Resolution may be cited as the "Original Resolution Honoring the 25th Army Corps"
