Candidates seeking nomination by gathering signatures must submit signature packets to the county clerk where the majority of signatures were collected, rather than to the filing officer

Lieutenant governor must establish rules for reimbursing counties for verifying signatures on nomination petitions for federal, constitutional, and multicounty offices at a rate of 50 cents per verified signature

County reimbursements are subject to legislative appropriations for that purpose

County clerks are responsible for verifying signatures within 14 calendar days, certifying voter eligibility, and conducting signature comparison audits

Effective date is January 1, 2027
