Individuals 21 years or older may conceal carry a dangerous weapon at public institutions of higher education without a permit, effective May 6, 2026

Open carry of dangerous weapons is prohibited at all public institutions of higher education, regardless of permit status, unless lawfully responding to an active threat

Private institutions of higher education are removed from the locations where the open carry prohibition applies

Individuals ages 18-20 may openly carry an unloaded firearm on public streets and other public locations not otherwise prohibited by law

Concealed carry permit holders may not open carry on elementary or secondary school grounds unless responding to an active threat
