Crime victims may request to have their initials used instead of their full name in publicly available criminal justice documents for offenses occurring on or after July 1, 2026

Applies to documents created by prosecuting agencies, courts, law enforcement, Division of Juvenile Justice and Youth Services, Department of Corrections, Youth Parole Authority, and Board of Pardons and Parole

Entities must maintain victim information and provide full names in response to a court order, even when initials are used in public documents

Exceptions apply for documents related to criminal protective orders, criminal stalking injunctions, and documents created by the Motor Vehicle Enforcement Division
