Expands the definition of "valid excuse" for school absences to include parent-justified absences for students maintaining at least a 2.0 GPA when related to participation in mountain biking clubs, shooting sports clubs, or Utah State University youth development programs (such as 4-H)

Students participating in these extracurricular activities can be excused without the absence counting toward truancy, provided they meet the minimum GPA requirement

Amends Utah Code Section 53G-6-201, which governs definitions related to compulsory education and truancy

Effective date: July 1, 2026
