Municipalities must provide law enforcement officers with written notice of allegations before imposing suspensions exceeding two days, demotions, or terminations

Officers must receive at least two business days after notification to submit a written reply to the agency head or designated representative

Agency heads must consider any written reply and give officers an opportunity to be heard before taking disciplinary action

Municipalities may adopt policies with greater protections for officers than the minimum requirements; existing rights of non-law enforcement civil service employees remain unchanged
