Doubles the signature threshold for submitting a statewide initiative to the Legislature from 4% to 8% of active voters, both statewide and in at least 26 Senate districts

Equalizes signature requirements so initiatives submitted directly to voters and those submitted to the Legislature both require 8% of active voters

Eliminates the previous requirement to gather additional signatures if the Legislature rejects an initiative; rejected initiatives now automatically go to voters at the next regular general election

Takes effect May 6, 2026
