Raises the threshold for judicial retention from a simple majority (more yes than no votes) to a supermajority requirement of at least 67% "yes" votes for a justice or judge to be retained in office

Justices and judges who receive fewer than 67% "yes" votes will not be retained, creating a vacancy on the first Monday in January following the general election

Applies to all Utah judicial retention elections, including Supreme Court justices, Court of Appeals judges, district court judges, juvenile court judges, and justice court judges

Takes effect on May 6, 2026
