Local education agencies (LEAs) must adopt policies responding to students who have been arrested for, charged with, or adjudicated for serious offenses or sexual crimes, clarifying that policies apply at these earlier stages rather than only after a crime is "committed"

LEA policies must distinguish procedures for offenses occurring on school property versus off school property, and must address serious offenses or sexual misconduct related to hazing

School resource officers must be given a process to provide input on safety risks a student may pose upon reintegration, and LEAs must inform school resource officers of any student on probation

LEAs must establish procedures for determining alternative placement when a student attends the same school as their victim or someone who has a protective order against them

Effective date is May 6, 2026, and the bill appropriates no money
