Local education agencies (LEAs) must notify parents within 30 days after a student fails a tier one vision screening, using telephone, email, or other approved communication methods

Nonprofit entities contracting with LEAs to provide vision screening may send home notifications with students who fail screenings, including information on additional resources and instructions for obtaining follow-up care

Parents retain the right to opt out of tier one or tier two vision screenings for their children

The bill takes effect on July 1, 2026
