Maximum class size of 25 students per class for Utah public schools, effective July 1, 2026

Large-group classes in secondary grades (6-12) such as choir, band, orchestra, and physical education are exempt from the 25-student limit

LEA governing boards may approve temporary variances for unanticipated enrollment changes if they adopt a written compliance plan and notify parents within 10 school days

State Board of Education must establish rules for compliance documentation and class size reporting, and may designate additional secondary class types as exempt large-group classes
