Private entities receiving $1,000,000 or more in public funds must provide free, secure handgun storage for concealed carry permit holders if the entity prohibits firearms on property within the Utah Fairpark Area, Housing and Transit Reinvestment Zones, or Capital City Revitalization Zone

Entities are responsible for stored handguns and must notify local law enforcement to take possession if an owner does not return within 24 hours; law enforcement must collect the firearm within 5 business days

Entities may verify concealed carry permits using the Bureau of Criminal Identification's existing online verification system but cannot retain any permit holder information except as required by court order

Excludes private entities that receive public funds solely through contracts to provide direct services to the state or political subdivisions
