Local executive officials (county executives, county managers/administrators, and municipal mayors/managers) are prohibited from simultaneously serving on municipal or county legislative bodies within the same jurisdiction

Individuals already holding dual positions as of May 6, 2026 may continue serving until their replacement is sworn in or January 31, 2027, whichever comes first

Future violations allow a one-year grace period for the individual to transition out of the legislative office

The bill takes effect May 6, 2026, with the transitional exception provisions set to be repealed July 1, 2027
