Utah's state protection and advocacy agency must represent and advocate for the interests of all disabled individuals in the state, with "disabled individual" defined per the Americans with Disabilities Act (42 U.S.C. Sec. 12102)

The agency is required to hold at least three public meetings annually throughout the state to understand local community needs and provide education, advocacy, and resources

Annual written reports must be submitted to the Judiciary Interim Committee and Health and Human Services Interim Committee by August 31

Reports may include data on public meetings held, types of advocacy services provided, government entities worked with, independence levels of individuals served, and outcomes such as voluntary/involuntary treatment referrals and transitions from homelessness
