State procurement units must purchase electric-powered landscape maintenance equipment when replacing end-of-life, two-stroke gasoline-powered equipment for use on state government grounds in first or second class counties with fewer than 50,000 square feet requiring maintenance.

Landscape maintenance equipment includes devices for mowing, edging, trimming, fertilizing, raking, and blowing outdoor vegetation and associated elements.

The Director of the Division of Facilities Construction and Management may grant exemptions when electric equipment is impractical due to terrain features, during emergencies, or when requirements are cost-prohibitive with written findings.

Applies to state agencies including departments, divisions, offices, and institutions of higher education.
