Charter schools become eligible for state transportation funding beginning July 1, 2028, on the same basis as school districts, subject to legislative appropriation and State Board of Education rules

State Board of Education must conduct a study on charter school transportation funding options, including projected statewide costs, funding models (per-pupil, route-based, regional/cooperative), impacts on district funding, and equity considerations for rural, suburban, and urban schools

Study findings and recommendations must be reported to the Education Interim Committee and Public Education Appropriations Subcommittee before November 2027 interim meetings

Provisions excluding charter schools from transportation funding and requiring the study report are set to sunset on July 1, 2028
