Expands scope of practice for state certified commercial interior designers to work in any occupancy classification under the International Building Code, removing previous limitation to only business (B) and mercantile (M) occupancies

Removes the eight-foot wall partition height limitation that previously restricted designers from bracing partial height partitions above that threshold

Restricts practice to non-structural, non-seismic, and non-load-bearing interior elements when core and shell structural elements remain unchanged

Clarifies unlawful conduct to include using the title "state certified commercial interior designer" or representing oneself as such without proper certification

Takes effect May 6, 2026
