Utah Legislature expresses intent to pursue Agreement State status with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission for additional elements of the nuclear fuel cycle not expressly prohibited by federal statute

Governor, through the Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control, may submit a letter of intent to the NRC to begin the Agreement State application process

Legislature supports the Department of Environmental Quality coordinating with the NRC to initiate the application process for eligible nuclear regulatory activities

Resolution encourages the NRC to clarify which portions of the nuclear fuel cycle are reserved by federal statute versus policy

Copies of the resolution will be sent to the NRC chairman, Utah's governor, and Utah's congressional delegation
