Allows the immediate survivor of a Virginia State Police officer who died while receiving long-term disability payments to purchase the officer's previously issued service handgun for $1, provided the officer had at least 10 years of service and the Superintendent approves the sale

Adds a new subsection (J) to existing law that already permits similar $1 handgun purchases for survivors of officers killed in the line of duty or who die in service with at least 10 years of experience

Requires approval from the Superintendent of State Police for these survivor purchases

Applies specifically to the Department of State Police, distinct from other agencies covered under the broader statute
