Requires health insurers, hospital/medical subscription contracts, and health maintenance organizations to cover maternal mental health screenings for conditions occurring during pregnancy or the postpartum period, including postpartum depression

Mandates coverage for at least one mental health screening during pregnancy and at least one during the first six weeks postpartum, with additional screenings if deemed medically necessary by the treating provider

Prohibits insurers from imposing prior authorization requirements or step therapy protocols on prescription drugs used to treat maternal mental health conditions

Maintains existing requirements for coverage of postpartum inpatient care and home visits in accordance with American Academy of Pediatrics and American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists guidelines

Applies to individual and group health insurance policies delivered, issued, or renewed in Virginia on or after January 1, 2027
