Requires all nursing homes and certified nursing facilities in Virginia to have and maintain an automated external defibrillator (AED) and have staff trained to use it as a condition of licensure.

Requires all assisted living facilities to have and maintain an AED and have trained staff prior to issuance or renewal of their license.

Amends Virginia Code § 32.1-127 (regulations for nursing homes and certified nursing facilities) and § 63.2-1701 (licensing requirements for assisted living facilities).

Applies to facilities licensed by both the Board of Health and the Commissioner of Social Services, covering the full spectrum of long-term care settings.
