Eliminates the through-year growth assessment system for reading and mathematics in grades three through eight, which had required beginning-of-year, mid-year, and end-of-year assessments to measure individual student growth

Removes the requirement that reading and mathematics assessments in grades three through eight be administered as through-year growth assessments with computer adaptive technology

Maintains existing Standards of Learning assessments for grades three through twelve, including end-of-course tests and mandatory local alternative assessments in subject areas where state assessments are unavailable

Renumbers subdivisions in § 22.1-253.13:3 to reflect the elimination of the through-year assessment provisions, effective July 1, 2026

Continues to require assessments be scored on a 100-point scale and individualized student score reports be provided within 45 days of assessment window closing
