Served in multiple Orange County leadership positions including member and chair of the Board of Supervisors, member and chair of the Planning Commission, and member of the Economic Development Authority

Supported economic development by establishing Lee Industrial Park, hiring the county's first economic development director, and attracting major employers to Orange County

Served as trustee and deacon at North Pamunkey Baptist Church and is survived by his wife Margaret, three daughters, two stepdaughters, and their families
