Commemorates Chesapeake Fire Department firefighter specialists Frank E. Young and John R. Hudgins, Jr., who died in the line of duty on March 18, 1996, when a roof collapsed during an auto parts store fire

Frank Young served 15 years with the department starting August 3, 1981; John Hudgins served 10 years starting January 6, 1986

Following their deaths, the Chesapeake Fire Department implemented 16 safety initiatives covering operations, equipment, and training programs

All department field members are now assigned portable radios and advanced personal protective equipment, and all recruits complete MAYDAY alert and firefighter survival training based on the incident

Resolution marks the 30th anniversary of their deaths and directs the Clerk of the House to present copies to their families
