James Hartman III, a Warrenton community member and law enforcement officer, died on February 8, 2026, and is honored through this joint resolution

Began public service at age 15 with the Warrenton Volunteer Fire Company, then served as dispatcher and officer with the Warrenton Police Department

Worked 17 years with the Fauquier County Sheriff's Office in the Criminal Investigations Division, retiring in 2020 at the rank of lieutenant-assistant commander

Served as Ward 4 representative on the Warrenton Town Council from 2021 through 2024, including a term as vice mayor

The Clerk of the House of Delegates is directed to prepare a copy of this resolution for presentation to his family
