Barbara Radcliffe Grey, an educator, art curator, and Richmond community member, died on June 7, 2025, and is honored through this joint resolution

Graduated from Virginia Union University in 1947, began teaching in a one-room schoolhouse in Buckingham County, and later earned a master's degree from New York University in 1965

Served Richmond Public Schools from the mid-1950s until 1990, working as principal of several schools including William Fox Elementary and establishing alternative schools

Became director of Virginia Union University Museum Art Galleries in 2006, preserving African American and African art collections at the L. Douglas Wilder Library

Received numerous honors including Style Weekly's "Richmonder of the Year" (1988), Richmond History Makers award (2016), and an honorary doctorate from VUU (2019)
