Commends Dr. Ken Nicely on his retirement as superintendent of Roanoke County Public Schools after 33 years of service to the division

Dr. Nicely began his RCPS career in 1993 as a Spanish teacher at Cave Spring High School and received the Virginia Foreign Language Excellence in Teaching Award in 2001

Rose through administrative ranks from assistant principal (2002) to principal to director positions, becoming the 16th superintendent of RCPS in 2018

Developed and implemented the C-Change Framework and Opportunity Ready graduate program, earning an Innovative Practice Exemplar Award from the Virginia Board of Education

RCPS was included in the Carnegie Foundation's Future of High School Network in 2025 as a result of his educational initiatives
