Virginia is one of only five states allowing in-person voting 45 or more days before an election, compared to the national average of 27 days

Joint committee will survey urban and rural localities to evaluate fiscal impacts, staffing burdens, facility requirements, and voter turnout trends

Study is allocated $20,680 for survey materials and meetings, with a maximum of four meetings during the 2026 interim

Final report with findings and recommendations due by the first day of the 2027 General Assembly session
