John B. Gordon III, Ed.D., superintendent of Suffolk Public Schools since 2019, was named the 2027 Region 2 Superintendent of the Year by the Virginia Association of School Superintendents

As Region 2 honoree, Gordon represents 15 school divisions in the Hampton Roads area and will be considered for the Virginia Superintendent of the Year award

Gordon has served as an adjunct professor at Eastern Mennonite University, the University of Virginia, and Old Dominion University, mentoring educators and administrators

The House of Delegates formally commends Gordon for his dedication to student academic, social, and emotional well-being, as well as his support for staff development
