St. Johns Lodge No. 144 of the Ancient Free and Accepted Masons is commended on its 200th anniversary, having been chartered by the Grand Lodge of Virginia on December 13, 1826, in Charlotte County

The lodge was founded by William B. Daniel as first worshipful master, along with nine other founding members, and became one of the most stable lodges in rural Virginia through interwoven family networks

In 2004, St. Johns Lodge No. 144 consolidated with Charlotte Lodge No. 290 and Keysville Lodge No. 154 to address population decline and aging membership, while preserving records and artifacts from all three lodges

The lodge currently has 51 members and participates in community service including the Adopt-a-Highway program near Eureka Elementary School, scholarships for local high school students, and various charitable fundraising efforts

A copy of the resolution will be presented to Glenwood Dean Foster, the current worshipful master of the lodge
