David Huchler, chief of police of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA), is commended for being named the 2025 Distinguished Alumni of George Mason University's Department of Criminology, Law and Society

Huchler became MWAA chief of police in 2018 after 26 years of service with the Alexandria Police Department, overseeing security at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and Dulles International Airport

He leads more than 240 sworn officers, 30 traffic control officers, and civilian administrative personnel, making it one of the largest police authorities in Northern Virginia

Huchler holds a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and master's degree in public administration from George Mason University, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy

He serves as an adjunct professor at George Mason University and is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police, and Police Executive Research Forum
