Staffed the emergency room at VCU Health Tappahannock Hospital for nearly 40 years and served in leadership at Riverside Medical Group, one of Virginia's largest group practices

Served as operational medical director for emergency medical services agencies on the Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula, and volunteered at free clinics and correctional facilities

Contributed to emergency medicine policy as an advisor for state legislative initiatives and member of medical association supervisory boards

Survived by his wife of 41 years, Carolyn, and four children: John, Rebecca, Sarah, and James
