Originally named Mussel Fork Village, the town was renamed Dendron from the Greek word for "tree," reflecting its forestry heritage

Dendron served as a thriving lumber company town and headquarters of the Surry Lumber Company, functioning as a rail transportation hub in the late 19th and early 20th centuries

The community overcame significant hardships including the closure of lumber operations in 1927 and a devastating Main Street fire in 1931

Directs the Clerk of the House of Delegates to present a copy of this resolution to the Town of Dendron
