John Philip "Phil" Robbins, a high school football and track coach in Southwest Virginia, died on September 21, 2025, and is honored by the Virginia House of Delegates for his contributions to student athletics

During his 28-year tenure at Powell Valley High School, Robbins compiled a 268-81 record, winning seven state football titles and two state track and field titles, making him one of the winningest coaches in Virginia High School League history

Robbins was inducted into the VHSL Virginia High School Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Emory & Henry Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, and served as president of the Virginia High School Coaches Association

Beyond coaching, Robbins served on the Big Stone Gap Town Council, led the Union Bears Backpack Program providing food to students in need, and was active at Trinity United Methodist Church

The resolution directs the Clerk of the House of Delegates to present a copy to his family, including his wife Patty of 58 years and sons Andy, Wes, and Brad
