Three Smithfield High School KidWind Challenge teams advanced to the 2025 KidWind World Challenge held in Phoenix, Arizona, May 18-21, 2025

Team Goon Squad earned the World Champion Top Performing Team award, one of only three teams selected for this distinction out of 45 competing teams

Team Goon Squad won the Virginia state championship, Team Blown Away placed second at state, and Team Windstorm won the national online challenge to qualify for the world competition

Teams were supported by Dominion Surry Power Station, Skanska, and community fundraising, with coaching from teachers Heather Greer, Adam Shipman, and BreeAnna Frye

The resolution directs the Clerk of the House of Delegates to prepare a copy for presentation to the teams in recognition of their engineering achievements
